High-Tech Ventilation Fails to Control Secondhand Smoke
In his just published study, Can Displacement Ventilation Control Secondhand Environmental Tobacco Smoke? James L. Repace (2002 Innovator Award Recipient) and Dr. Kenneth Johnson investigated claims that new high-tech “displacement” ventilation systems could protect non-smokers from toxic tobacco smoke in restaurants and bars. They found that these high-tech systems were no match for secondhand smoke and may, in fact, perform worse than standard “dilution” ventilation.
