Dr. Koop's Vision of Major Health Care Reform for the U.S.

Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop delivered his keynote address, "Healthcare for the 21st Century" in which he called attention to pressing challenges in medicine and public health.  He presented his vision of major health care reform, and the need to bridge the gaps between science, medicine, and policy to improve health and health care delivery in the U.S.

Dr. Koop proposed that health care be viewed and accepted as a "moral right," and presented three core principles needed to transform our country's unacceptable state of health and health care.
